Clinical Research Site Locates in Garner

GARNER, NC – Oculus Research has opened the doors on their new clinical research site in Garner. The new facility will focus on researching therapies that treat eye conditions, specifically phase 2-4 ophthalmic trials.

Hoda Gabriel founded the company in 2012 after many years in the industry on both the sponsor and clinical side. She built a team of experienced and knowledgeable people. Oculus Research staff have over 60 years of cumulative clinical research experience, including pharmaceutical R&D drug development, CRO, and audit experience. 

Oculus Research has a diverse research patient population which includes all age ranges. The company specializes in ophthalmic research trials, including glaucoma/ocular hypertension, adenoviral and bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye), allergic conjunctivitis, pediatric myopia control, presbyopia, astigmatism, and devices such as contact lenses.  These clinical trials are research studies designed to determine the safety and effectiveness of investigational drugs or medical devices.

Dr. Carol Aune and her husband, Erik, run the company. As the Chief Operating and Business Development Officer, Erik is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company as well as business development and patient recruitment. While Dr. Aune, the President and Director of Clinical Operations, focuses on the research of the new therapies.

When asked what drew them to locate their CRS to Garner they said, “Garner is a perfect location for a clinical research site,” said Dr. Aune. “The community is centrally located which allows us great access to staff as well as perspective patients.” 

Erik went on to add, “with the great access to skilled staff and a large pool of patients, we are able to deliver back to our clients meaningful research results as they continue to develop their new therapies.
