GET Program Announces 2022 Winners

Garner, NC— The second annual G.E.T. (Garner Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow) Pitch Night was held on May 12, 2022. This year, six students were awarded prizes for presenting their unique business ideas. This youth entrepreneurship program is made possible by the generous support of the GEDC (Garner Economic Development Corporation).

This year’s judges represented three different companies, Operation36 Golf, Matt Davis State Farm, and Soaring Eagles Track Club. Each student presented their business plan idea and answered questions from the three judges.

"This program continues to grow and a be a driving force in sparking the entrepreneurial spirit in our young adults," GEDC Chair Jeff Swain said. “It was the GEDC’s pleasure to support this program and continue to fuel the spark on entrepreneurialism in our community.”

Students worked over three months to identify a business idea, craft a business plan, and then pitch their business idea to a group of judges. As a reward for participating in the program, each student received a laptop courtesy of the GEDC.

“This is just the beginning of the students entrepreneurial journey,” said Garner Economic Development Director Joe Stallings. “We know that our town was built by enterprising entrepreneurs. These students represent the future of our town and its small business community.”

The course program was provided by Matthew Reagan CEO of Operation36 Golf and supplemented by the career development coordinators at each school. Mr. Reagan provided instructional videos the students could watch to help them with crafting their business plan and pitch.

This program could not have been possible without the support of Matthew Reagan of Operation36 Golf, Matt Davis of State Farm Insurance, Tasha Simpson of Soaring Eagles Track Club, Tim Walker of South Garner High School, and Paige Harris of Garner Magnet High School, the Garner Economic Development Corporation, and most importantly, the students who participated.
